Lydia joined Chambers in 2018 after completing her pupillage with Mr Selwyn Yu SC, Mr Derek Chan (now Derek Chan SC), Mr Eugene Yim, Mr Jonathan Ah-weng, and Ms Ann Lui, and after serving as marshal to Mr. Recorder Robert Whitehead SC (as he then was).

Lydia has a broad civil and criminal practice. She has experience in areas such as criminal law (including white collar crime cases), general commercial law, company law, insolvency, bankruptcy, land law, matrimonial law, employment law, trust, personal injuries, and judicial review. She has appeared in the Court of Appeal, the Court of First Instance, the District Court, the Magistrates’ Courts, and before the Liquor Licensing Board, as a sole advocate or as a led junior counsel.

  • HKSAR v. APL Co. PTE Limited & another (led by Mr. Robert Pang SC, with Mr. Bernard Chung) – successful prosecution of both defendants for offences relating to the import of strategic commodities
  • Securities and Futures Commission v. Au-Yeung Siu Pang, ESS 30588/2017 & ESS 30589/2017 (assisting Mr. Selwyn Yu SC and Mr. Laurence Li SC) – successful prosecution of the defendant for insider dealing

  • Nancy Ann Kissel v. The Long-Term Prison Sentences Review Board [2018] HKCFI 1085 (led by Mr. Edward Fitzgerald QC, Mr. Derek Chan SC, with Mr. Benson Tsoi) – judicial review of the Board’s refusal to indicate the “triggering period”
  • CHH v. CCS, FCMC 10109/2017 (sole advocate) – trial, represented the petitioner
  • Cheng Yiu Chung Peter v. Chung Hiu Ching [2018] HKCFI 2125 (sole advocate) – successful application for bankruptcy against the judgment debtor
