Sebastian is developing a broad civil and criminal practice, with a particular interest and specialisation in matrimonial, probate and asset recovery work. He has worked on a wide range of cases including but not limited to matrimonial (ancillary relief and children), probate, personal injuries, company and commercial, construction, and general civil and criminal matters. He frequently handles matters relating to email fraud, injunctions, asset tracing and applications under the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622).

Sebastian served pupillage with Mr Robert Pang SC, Ms Anita Yip SC, Mr Kenny Lin, Mr Giles Surman, Mr Robin Egerton, Mr Eric Leung and Mr Lincoln Cheung. He was also marshal to Deputy High Court Judge Robert Whitehead SC (as he then was). Prior to pupillage, Sebastian was born and grew up in London where he was educated at St. Paul’s School in London before reading law at the University of Bristol.

Sebastian is capable of undertaking work in English (native) and Cantonese. He is also proficient in Japanese and has acted for Japanese clients. He accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ work.

  • Hu Sun Irene and Hessle Inc v Zishang Trading Ltd and Others [2023] HKCFI 2369 — acted for plaintiffs in obtaining summary judgment and post-judgment Mareva injunctions in respect of email/identity fraud
  • Hu Sun Irene and Hessle Inc v Zishang Trading Ltd and Others (HCA 1182/2021) — acted for plaintiffs in obtaining Mareva and proprietary injunctions against over 50 defendants for fraud of over HKD 320 million; traced and conducted asset recovery against numerous 2nd layer defendants; obtained summary judgment against 2nd layer defendants
  • Wadhuram Kewalramani v Crown Import & Export (HK) Ltd; Wadhuram Kewalramani v Crown Import & Export Ltd [2022] HKCFI 1440 — acted for plaintiff in obtaining documents from both companies under the Companies Ordinance
  • Theodore Rossi, Trustee of Rossi Family Foundation, a Connecticut Trust under Agreement dated Decemebr 15 2015 v Buyhive Limited (HCA 1222/2021) — acted for defendant in resisting a claim for breach of contract over the sale of medical equipment
  • sa Famiflora nv v Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited (DCMP 2871/2022); sa Famiflora nv v Bank of China and China Merchant Bank (DCMP 2150/2023) — obtained Norwich Pharmacal orders for disclosure
  • Kawin Interior Contracting Co Limited v Fine Tower Associates Ltd (DCCJ 111/2020) — represented defendant in construction dispute regarding fitting out works

  • LYCC v CHL & Ors [2023] HKCFI 1585 — acted for applicant in an application under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Ordinance (Cap. 481) for maintenance from the deceased’s estate (led by Richard Todd KC and Jeremy Chan)
  • LCFM formerly known as LCFM v LSF [2023] HKFC 218; [2023] HKFC 121 — acted for 1st Applicant in an application for the discharge of undertakings in relation to children and financial matters and for leave to appeal (with Peter Barnes)
  • MF v HK (FCMC 16350/2016) — acted for Japanese petitioner in relocation application
  • SSL v ESLL (FCMC 9715/2020) — acted for petitioner in ex parte non-molestation injunction

Criminal

  • HKSAR v Pang, Christabel Yuen-ting (WKCC 13411/2023) — acted for defendant on a count of careless driving and obtained a no case to answer
  • HKSAR v Moala Alipate (HCCC 76/2019) — prosecuted the defendant on a charge of trafficking dangerous drugs (with Steven Kwan)
